Having won the toss South Wilts opted to bat first however tight opening spells restricted both openers with only Oli Carr-Smith ably to score with any regularity, the introduction of spin saw a further slowing of the run rate and fall of wickets as the home side reached only 60-3 at drinks.
With U11 Matt Falconer arriving at the crease the innings gained some much needed momentum until Carr-Smith fell for 53. With the score at 100 with five overs remaining South Wilts looked a long way short of a par score however a flurry of runs and wickets saw the innings close at 140-9 with Matt Falconer making an impressive run a ball 28.
Given the home sides score the dismissal of Swindon and Wiltshire opener Sam Giddings was always going to be key to the home sides chances but despite restricting his scoring opportunities early on South Wilts were unable to shift the impressive Giddings.
The home side did manage to secure two wickets to give some themselves some hope however the failure to take any of the four chances presented by Giddings saw Swindon romp to a well deserved 8 wicket victory, with Giddings still unbeaten on 77, with 8 overs to spare.
