The Club has had a massive boost ahead of the 2018 season with the return of Tom Morton to the club.
After a successful 2 year stint as Director of Cricket at Ealing CC, Tom has returned to South Wilts. He has recently accepted a new role with Wiltshire Cricket allowing him to return to the area and join South Wilts again.
He returns as Club Captain, overseeing the playing section at the club and supporting the Captains.
Morton said of his return:
“It’s great to be back, South Wilts is my second home and I can’t wait to get stuck in to the new role and help the club push forward both on and off the pitch. I’ve learnt a lot in the last two years and I hope I can use this experience to develop South Wilts. I’ve certainly kept in touch with all the lads and followed the results and performances closely”.
Morton’s return is a massive boost to the club and he will be keen to pick up where he left off, amassing just shy of 7,000 league runs at an average of 40.
Morton’s teammate and club captain said, “It’s great to have Morts back, his passion and commitment to South Wilts is unrivalled. He has a huge amount to offer both on and off the pitch and I look forward to working with him. I can’t think of a more suitable candidate to work with the captains and develop our club further, not to mention his 7,000 league runs”.
Morton’s first role will be to oversee the Clubs winter training programme with James Hibberd (Senior Head Coach) which starts in February at The Tollgate Indoor Cricket Centre.
