South Wilts progressed to the next round of the 2020 SPL T20 Cup with an emphatic win over Paultons Cricket Club.
Skipper Ben Draper won the toss and wasted no time in electing to bat first on a beautifully sunny day at the new forest ground. Mynott (5) was removed by a rising delivery from Chris Dunn with the score on 20.
Ben Draper (32) joined Hayward (67) at the crease and the pair set about their task aggressively, adding 72 in 7 overs. Draper punished anything short whilst Hayward played an array of sweeps and reverse sweeps, hitting 10 fours & 2 sixes before falling to Holloway-Jenks. South Wilts were now well set on 92-2 off 9 overs. Jack Stearman (10), Tom Grant (19) & Miles Kantolinna (18) continued the onslaught to take the score to 186-6 after 18 overs. Ed Wade (24*) was proactive and along with Harries (11*) they took South Wilts through to a formidable score of 210 after their 20 overs.
The Paultons chase never really got going as they were reduced to 104-7 off their 20 overs. Azeem Hamid (31) was the only Paultons batter to offer any defence before being bowled by Will Harries.
Draper used 6 bowlers in total, all of which bowled nicely and were well backed up in the field.
