South Wilts Midweek XI produced a dominant all-round display to secure a convincing 121-run victory over Broadchalke Badgers in the Salisbury District Wednesday League Division One.
After winning the toss and electing to bat, South Wilts piled on an imposing 258-4 from their 20 overs, with four batters all reaching retired half-centuries. Gabriel Williams (50*), Liam Vermeulen (50*), Alexander Vincent (51*) and Joshua Chippendale (53*) all scored at a blistering rate, while George Allom added a quickfire 13 before Broadchalke's Nicholas Hall claimed four late wickets to stem the flow.
In reply, Broadchalke never threatened the target despite 33 from Nicholas Hall and 20 from Dan Savage, as South Wilts shared the wickets around in an impressive bowling performance. Ollie Wright led the attack with 3-28, while Jacob Rowe and Charlie Allom each picked up two wickets as the hosts were dismissed for 137 in 19.5 overs. The comprehensive victory capped an outstanding team performance, with South Wilts excelling in all departments to take the points.
Attention now turns to the midweek Plate Trophy semi-final, as we welcome Amesbury to South Wilts on Wednesday 15th July.
