The club would like to firstly thank Steve Hatcher for the job he has done as chairman of the cricket club over the last 3 years. Steve's effort and dedication to the cricket club in this role is one everybody is grateful to him for. Steve will be continuing to dedicate his time to the cricket club in the role of sponsorship and fundraising lead, and will be working alongside Stuart Nash in this key role for our cricket club.
We welcome back Trevor Pittman as chairman of the cricket club after 8 years away from the committee. Trevor brings a wealth of experience in this role having served for 6 years previously. Words from the new chairman will appear before the start of the 2025 with his thoughts on the season ahead and the cricket clubs vision moving forward. Trevor welcomes the knowledge and experience of Paul Draper back to the committee as Vice-Chairman. Drapes has served previously as vice-chairman, secretary and treasurer.
2025 also see's our secretary and treasurer continuing in their roles, Sean & Chris are fantastic acquisitions to the committee in helping the day to day running of the ever expanding cricket club. A new role for 2025 is the role of Facilities and ground improvements, with Stuart Nash taking on this role for the club. Nashy is a great volunteer for the club, he will be looking at ways in which we can continue to move our club forward with new ideas and improvements to our grounds and facilities.
A new head of selection has been confirmed for 2025. Rob Pittman will take this role on after stepping down from his previous role as 2nd team captain after 7 season in charge. Rob will work with all the senior captains to help with the selection process for Saturday and Sunday fixtures.
Ben Draper is continuing for another season as the 1st team captain after a successful season last time out with a new and inexperienced team. Credit to Ben and his team who fought all the way last season to reach a winner takes all final game. We will be looking to build on this as we go into the 2025 season.
We welcome back Tom Pearce to the role of 2nd team captain after exploring some other challenges in the club over the past couple of years. Tom will bring a huge amount of knowledge to this role after a very successful time as captain previous. A new challenge this season for the 2nd team, as we now compete in Hampshire County Div 1. This also brings a new look league structure for the Hampshire Cricket League moving away from a 18 team division and matching the SPL's 10 team division playing teams home and away.
Again we welcome back another familiar face to the 3rd team captaincy role; Jody Everett who had a successful spell as skipper previously gaining promotion to Hampshire County Div 2. Russell Rowe and Sean Burke will be working together as 4th XI captain/Team Manager for the 2025 season, after a successful season last year. Paul Hemming will again be helping the team on match days in a vice captain capacity. A vital team for our club, developing our next cricketers who one day will be playing in the 1st team.
After 5 years in this role, Stuart Nash has left his role as joint director or junior cricket. Russell Rowe continues in this role for 2025 season and is supported by age group managers and the many coaches involved on training nights and match days.
During January and February there will be weekly club updates so keep your eyes peeled for next week's news!!
