South Wilts midweek XI produced another solid all-round performance, posting a competitive total before restricting Dinton’s reply with a disciplined bowling display.
Batting first, South Wilts made a fast start through Liam Vermeulen, who scored 45 from 21 balls, including seven fours and two sixes. Although Gabriel Williams fell early, Joshua Chippendale maintained the momentum with 31 from 16 deliveries.
Trishawn Francis and Ben Draper both contributed 15, before Rob Pittman marked his return after two months out injured with an unbeaten 47 from 23 balls. His innings, containing five fours and three sixes, ensured South Wilts finished strongly.
For Dinton, Ed Nash took 3-38, with Sean Howell claiming two wickets.
Dinton’s chase was led by South Wilts own Ivo Leyland, who retired unbeaten on 51, while Andy O’Neill made 28 at the top of the order.
Asher Osborn was the pick of the South Wilts attack, returning figures of 2-12 from his four overs. Trishawn Francis claimed the wicket of O’Neill, while George Nash (3-0-12-0), Jacob Rowe (4-0-18-0) and Ollie Wright (4-0-16-0) all bowled economically to keep the run rate under control throughout the innings.
South Wilts’ combination of aggressive batting and disciplined bowling proved enough to secure a deserved victory.
Attention now turns to next Wednesday's league fixture away to Broadchalke CC, before we host Amesbury CC in the Plate Trophy Semi Final the follow week.
