South Wilts lead the ECB Southern Premier Division by four points from Bournemouth following a comfortable 62-run win over Basingstoke & North Hants at May's Bounty.
The opening round of red ball all-day 'time pennant' matches saw them slip from a threatening 158-3 to 212 all out.
But bowl Basingstoke for 150, with Australian Ryan Freeman and left-armer Tom Grant sharing eight of the hosts' wickets.
South Wilts openers Tom Cheater (32) and James Degg (30) peppered the Bounty boundary, all bar seven of their 57-run start crossing the rope.
Matt Donaldson (4-35) broke the stand, but Harry Broderick, with three sixes hits in a lively 39, and a more patient Jack Mynott (36) took the score past 150 before the innings subsided.
Donaldson and Joe Oates took two wickets each as South Wilts lost seven batsmen for 54 runs, underlying the lack of depth in most SPL sides.
Basingstoke continued the theme of losing quick wickets with Matt Deadman feathering a catch behind second ball and teenager Alex Bovill dismissed off the last ball of the second over. Basingstoke 2-2.
Ash Neal (59) did his best to keep Basingstoke afloat, but with Freeman (4-48) taking out three of their top five no meaningful partnerships developed.
Wickets continued to fall with left-armer Tom Grant (4-40) removing Neal and three later batsmen to leave the Bountymen 150 all out.
The four South Wilts players in the Wiltshire side shone in the county's NCCA three-wicket victory over Wales, who recovered from 30-5 to post 185.
Harry Broderick took 3-40 and Archie Fairfax-Ross 2-25. Jack Mynott made 38 before Ben Draper (60) and Fairfax-Ross (45 not out) produced a match winning stand of 91.

Tom Pearce struck a season's best 71 and Sam Pittman snared five victims behind the stumps, but neither was able to prevent South Wilts II slipping to a four-wicket defeat by Southern Premier Division 3 newcomers Hursley Park at Bemerton.

Pearce, who has been in particularly good form bowling his left-arm spin, hit eight four and a six and shared a 72-run partnership with teenager Alex Vincent (31).

But South Wilts' eventual 186-9 was below par as Hursley recovered from 49-3 to reach the target with 11 overs to spare, Melbourne-based all-rounder Paddy McNamara following his 3-17 return with a key 60 with the bat.
