Freddie will captain and Joseph will keep wicket.
Please warm up enthusiastically and support one another throughout the game, just as you’ve done brilliantly in every match and training session this season.
Stick to the batting order (in pairs) on the team sheet. Try to maximise the runs for each pair, with the non-striker backing up energetically and calling positively. As a batter, focus on getting bat on ball. With these fast outfields, timing and placement are far more important than a big swing.
In the field, if Freddie wants you stopping fours, walk in from behind the boundary rope so you give yourself every chance of stopping them, or even saving a six. If you’re saving singles, be super sharp and, if you’re ever unsure which end to throw to, get the ball into Dobby behind the stumps.
We’ve improved hugely at backing up and cutting out extras, so let’s keep the overthrows, wides and no balls to an absolute minimum. Do that, and we’ll give Burbage, who are playing this as their A team, another cracking game.
Most of all, enjoy it, be sporting, and keep encouraging one another throughout. Good luck, team! ??
